The Australian Music Industry has lost one of its longest serving soldiers. Norm Sweeney has lost his battle with cancer.
Norm was a roadie for Max Merritt and the Meteors in the 60s and then Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs in the 70s.Just over a year ago, his friends Richard Clapton, Brian Cadd, John Paul Young, Jim Keays, Doug Parkinson, Swanee, Phil Manning, Dinah Lee and The Aztecs got together for a fundraiser for Norm.
That one event eased the burden of Norm’s final year.
Norm started working with Max Merritt in 1966 but it was with the Aztecs where he would spend 39 years.
During his career he worked with many international acts including the Rolling Stones, Alice Cooper, Joe Cocker, Abba and Frank Zappa.
Farewell “Normie E, the Bad Roadie”.
