Three of Michael Jackson`s album have outsold Black Eyed Peas `The E.N.D.` this week, according to numbers from Nielsen SoundScan.
The compilation ‘Number Ones’ has sold 108,000 copies in America since the death of Jackson last Thursday. ‘The Essential Michael Jackson` sold 102,000 units and ‘Thriller` moved 101,000 copies.With the momentum of the ‘This Is It’ tour in recent weeks, ‘Number Ones’ had started to sell prior to Jackson’s death and was at no. 20 last week on sales of 4,000 units.
Other Jackson album sales this week according to Nielsen SoundScan were ‘Off The Wall’ (33,000 sales), ‘Bad’ (17,000 sales), ‘Dangerous’ (14,000 sales), ‘Greatest Hits: HIStory Vol 1 (12,000 sales), ‘The Ultimate Collection’ (11,000 sales).
The Jackson 5’s ‘The Ultimate Collection’ also sold 18,000 units last week.
Jackson has sold 415,000 albums since his death last Thursday in the United States alone. That number is estimated in the millions across the world.
Total sales of Michael Jackson albums this year prior to his death were 297,000 units.
