Lead Arctic Monkey Alex Turner reveals that new songs are veering towards acoustic.
After an unbelievable year, including number one singles, a number one album, a slew of awards and an almost obligatory Mercury Prize win, Arctic Monkeys have spoken to UK's Uncut Magazine about writing new material.Guitarist and vocalist Alex Turner told the magazine that the past twelve months has been "the best year of our lives" but despite heavy touring and constant attention, he's feeling a compulsion to write new material. He admitted, "I can't stop writing songs, I don't know what else I'm going to do."
He also suggested that the tempo of the new material with be more relaxed than their raucous debut 'Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not'. Turner noted that some songs may even appear acoustically on a new recording. He said, "I've written quite a few slower ones- there's 13 or 14 songs, maybe a few more, in different states."
Laurence Bell, the boss of their label Domino Records, said new tune 'Brain Storm'is "very bright and metallic - it'll shock a few people."
