Physician, philosopher and friend of Michael Jackson Deepak Chopra has warned of the many doctors in Hollywood who attach themselves to celebrities for instant fame.
While autopsy results are yet to be released, Chopra has backed up family claims that prescription drugs killed Michael Jackson. The doctor says that Michael would use various doctors to write him prescriptions but Chopra said he refused to do it for Michael.
Deepak says Jackson was “an addict”. “Through the years I tried to tell him that he should get off certain medicines that were recommended to him but in vain,” the Dr. Chopra said.
However, he also says that his refusal to help Jackson with his habit had no effect because of the many number of doctors in Hollywood who attach themselves to celebrities.
Dr. Conrad Murray, the doctor who was living with Jackson in the Beverly Hills house and was in the house when he died only 2 weeks ago closed his practice to work full-time with the star as his personal physician.
Murray went into hiding after Jackson’s death but has since surfaced and is co-operating with police in the investigation.
Police emphasis that Dr. Murray is a witness and is not considered a suspect.
The doctor claims that he did not inject Jackson with the drug Demerol. He says that Jackson was already unconscious when he found him on Thursday.
