Virtual band Gorillaz have turned authors. Their band's official autobiography 'Gorillaz: Rise of the Ogre' is about to be released through Penguin Books.
Gorillaz is the alter-ego of Blur's Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett and features the characters 2D, Noodle, Russell Hobbs, and the sinister Murdoc Nicols.The 296 page book features full-color orchestrations and chronicles the band members lives.
Gorillaz's 2001 debut sold more than 5 million units and the follow-up 'Demon Days' has exceeded 6 million.
The virtual band has won a Grammy Award and recorded with the likes of Neneh Cherry, Danger Mouse, Ike Turner, De La Soul and Dennis Hopper.
In April, a week long stint at the Apollo Theatre in Harlem sold out in less than an hour.
