The Presets and Chris Cheney Win The Big APRA Awards

Congrats to The Living End frontman Chris Cheney and to The Presets, Julian Hamilton and Kim Moyes for winning the major APRA Awards for 2009.

The 2009 APRA Awards were held in Melbourne last night (Tuesday, June 23).

The winners were:

Song of the Year: White Noise (written by Chris Cheney)

Songwriters of the Year: Julian Hamilton & Kim Moyes (The Presets)

Breakthrough Songwriter Award: Geoffrey Gurrumil Yunupingu

Ted Albert Award for Outstanding Services to the Australian Music Industry: Denis Handlin AM

Blues and Roots Work of the Year: Sunshine by Old Man River (written by Ohad Rein, Edo Kahn and Nadav Kahn)

Country Work of the Year: Rattlin' Bones by Kasey Chambers and Shane Nicholson

Jazz Work of the Year: Something Will Come To Light by Joe Chindamo

Most Played Foreign Work: All Your Reasons by Matchbox 20 (written by Kyle Cook, Rob Thomas, Paul Doucette and Brian Yale)

Dance Work of the Year: Don't Hold Back by The Potbelleez (written by David Greene, Ilan Kidron, Jonathan Murphy and Sam Littlemore)
