Hilltop Hoods `State of the Art` album has not only debuted at number one in Australia, it more than doubled the sales of Black Eyed Peas `The E.N.D.` this week.
‘State of the Art’ sold 27,455 units, well ahead of Black Eyed Peas ‘The E.N.D.’ with 11,803 units.The Adelaide hip-hop band this week gave Australia its first bona-fide hip-hop hit.
Hilltop Hoods formed in 1991 and released their first E.P. in 1997.
In 2006, their 4th studio album ‘The Hard Road’ broke the act through to commercial success, earning them their first number one album. It sold Platinum in Australia (70,000 units).
‘State of the Art’ is their first album on their own Golden Era Records.
The number three album by Pink ‘Funhouse’ sold 10,236 units last week. Hilltop Hoods sold more than Pink and Black Eyed Peas added together.
Other debuts this week on the Australian chart were Incubus ‘Monuments and Melodies’ at no. 20 and Chickenfoot ‘Chickenfoot’ at no. 50.
