The original 24-hour party people Happy Mondays have been added to the Splendour in the Grass line-up.
Happy Mondays were documented in the movie ’24-Hour Party People’ alongside Joy Division who became New Order about the rise and fall of Manchester Record label Factory Records.The Splendour gig will be the only Australian performance for Happy Mondays.
The band disintegrated in 1993 but reunited in August 2006 and went on to record ‘Uncle Dysfucktional’, their first album in 14-years.
Also added to Splendour are The Doves, You Am I, Downsyde, The Beautiful Girls, Little Red, Bluejuice, Children Collide, Art vs. Science, Paul Dempsey, Dappled Cities, Holly Throsby, Bridezilla, Deya Dova and Tipi Forest.
They join Bloc Party, MGMT, The Flaming Lips, Hilltop Hoods, Grinspoon, The Specials and Janes Addiction.
Splendour on the Grass is on July 25 and 26 in Byron Bay.
