The Grateful Dead's founding bassist Phil Lesh has revealed he is battling prostate cancer.
Thee 66-year-old is scheduled to have surgery in December for the "small and slow-growing" tumour. He expects to have "a rapid and complete recovery".Lesh was the recipient of a new liver only eight years ago. He said the tumour was found at an early stage, hence the positive outlook. Lesh issued a message via the Grateful Dead website, urging all men to be tested for the insidious disease.
Lesh performed at the Lengoose Music Festival only last Sunday, declaring, "I am feeling energetic as always and all my scheduled appearances will occur as planned."
