We will know tomorrow (Friday) how long Phil Spector will serve in jail but it appears the deal has already been cut. Spector`s lawyer is reported to be pleading for a 15 year sentence for the 69-year old murderer.
Despite being found guilty of murder by a jury after the first case was aborted on a hung jury, Spector has still not admitted that he murdered actress Lana Clarkson at his home in 2003.The court heard from 5 women who testified that Spector made them play Russian roulette with a loaded pistol. In Clarkson’s case, her luck was not with her on that fateful day.
The court heard how the previous gun incidents with women formed a pattern and continuous abuse and disregard and that Spector’ s claim that Clarkson committed suicide was unfounded.
The former star-maker, who produced The Beatles ‘Let It Be’ and artists like Ike and Tina Turner and was famous for his signature Wall of Sound, may spend even longer in jail if the judge adds years for use of a firearm. It could mean Spector will face 25 years in jail making him 94 years old when he is released.
His lawyers are already planning an appeal ahead of the decision we will hear in the next 24 hours.
