Melbourne folk singer songwriter Jessica Paige has won a JB Seed Award.
Like Butler himself, Paige began her career busking and over the last four years she has been impressed thousands through festival appearances with her band the Paige Boys and through radio support for her debut EP 'Back Of Our Minds.' The EP also won her songwriting awards from APRA, the Australian Songwriters Association and has earned honorable mentions in US songwriting competitions. The JB Seed Award will help the 21 year old promote her second EP 'Under My Skin, due for release on November 16.The JB Seed grants are organized through a separate organisation that is using money from Missy Higgins, John Butler and others to sponsor artists who the panel deem under-recognised. Paige said on her myspace, "we are indeed fortunate and we will use it for the power of good."
