Johnny Clegg will make his way from South Africa to Perth this week to start his first Australian tour in four years.
The man know around the world as ‘The White Zulu’, is one of the biggest stars to ever come out of South Africa. In France, he was awarded the highest cultural award the country has to offer, a Knight of Arts and Letters. It is the French equivilent of a Knighthood.Clegg merged the sounds of Zulu with pop and revolutionized a new sound when he started performing more than 30-years ago. Artists like Paul Simon used his template. Simon created the sound of his classic ‘Graceland’ album from the same sources that Clegg had earlier discovered.
