Music legend Peter Gabriel was name to receive the Swedish Polar Music Prize this week.
Gabriel, a founding member of Genesis, and then solo star will be honored with the prize for his innovations in the music industry.As well as his recording career, Gabriel was a founder of the world music festival WOMAD, world music label Real World and the online distribution company On Demand Distribution.
Gabriel is also a co-founder of innovative music site TheFilter.com.
The Polar Music Prize was started in 1989 by Abba manager Stig Anderson.
Gabriel will be given the award by King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden on August 31.
