The media were out in force at Sydney airport last night in anticipation of Footy Show host Matthew Johns, who was recently dismissed by Channel Nine but Hoodoo Gurus front man Dave Falkner stepped between him and the media.
Falkner told journalists at the airport “What a life you have. What a shocking, tragic, tawdry business you're in,” the ABC reports.“To film people having a family holiday. Aren't you ashamed of yourselves, watching this?”
“I can't stand you people, what are you doing here?”
“No life, buddy, no life.”
Faulkner was travelling with his manager Michael McMartin and McMartin’s wife when they joined a group protecting Johns from the media pack.
Johns was dismissed from Channel 9 after the ABC’s Four Corners program revealed that a New Zealand woman became suicidal after group sex with Johns and his former Cronulla Sharks team-mates in Christchurch in 2002.
Police investigated the incident at the time and no charges were laid.
