Eminem knows how to market a new album. For his last few albums, it the strategy was to set the release date, leak them early, and then run a publicity campaign announcing that they would be released early.
Well, that was 5 years ago. Now he has social networking.In 2009, the Elvis of Rap is bypassing radio and putting up songs, one at a time, online.
Every leak comes with an embedded link, so, as Undercover has done here, we can let you hear it too.
That’s what Undercover wants to do, that is what you want to do and that is what Eminem wants you to do, so everyone is happen.
The well-placed strategic leak is the new airplay.
Note how Eminem very smartly doesn’t release all the songs at once. Note how they are never released in the same way. For example, on the weekend he sneaked ‘3AM’ onto the market through YouTube. The leak for today’s song ‘Old Times Sake’ comes via gigya.
The song will be on the next Eminem album ‘Relapse’ which is less than two weeks away.
