While Cut Copy are celebrating their 'In Ghost Colours' number one debut, the victory is indeed bittersweet.
Cut Copy's 'In Ghost Colours' sold 5703 units to score the number one trophy. That includes 640 digital downloads of the album. However, the number one DVD, which was 'Haarp' by Muse, sold 5789 units all up, even though it is a CD/DVD package.
Muse would have qualified for the CD chart as well, and would have been listed as this week's number one album, but the label elected to have it listed as a DVD instead.
The chart gets even more out of whack when you look at compilation albums. ARIA does not count compilations in the Top 100 but the real number one this week goes to the Triple J Hottest 100 Volume 15 with sales 13420 units this week.
The same thing happened to Gyroscope with 'Breed Obsession' in March. While 'Breed Obsession' topped the chart for the week on March 17 on 6598 units, the 'Triple J compilation sold 27,279 in that same week.
It was another quiet week for debuts. The second biggest debut was Millencolin with 'Machine 15'. It sold 2029 units to debut at number 11.
Flo Rida's 'Mail On Sunday' debuted at number 29 and Brandy 'The Best of Brandy' came in at number 37.
