John Weller, the father and manager of Paul Weller, died on Wednesday.
John Weller managed Paul’s entire career from The Jam, through to The Style Council and into the solo years.A statement at the Paul Weller website reads, “Its with immense sadness that we can confirm that John Weller passed away yesterday (Wednesday, April 22, 2009)”.à
“John who managed Paul’s career from the start of the Jam onwards will be missed by everyone.à He was a larger than life character who was respected across the music industry and a much loved husband, dad, granddad and friend’.
“Our thoughts and love go out to the Weller’s at this sad and difficult time. Ann, Nicky and Paul also really appreciate all the lovely cards, emails and messages from everyone”.
Paul Weller was on tour in the United States when he heard that his father was in his last days. He halted the tour immediately and flew to England to be with John.
John Weller was 77. He has been ill for some time.
