Linda McCartney died 11 years ago on April 17, 1998. This weekend, Paul McCartney marked the anniversary of his wife`s death with an emotional dedication at Coachella.
McCartney wiped a tear from his eye as he said, “it is very emotional for me tonight and my family because April 17, this is the anniversary of Linda’s passing. She passed away in Arizona 11 years ago. You know what? She loved the desert, she loved music, she loved rock and roll. She loved it all. This song was written for Linda. We play it from her tonight and we play it also for all the lovers in the audience. You know who you are”.He then played ‘My Love’, choking up through the performance.
The Coachella performance also gave Sir Paul the chance to debut two songs from his recent alter-ego The Fireman live. He played ‘Sing The Changes’ and ‘Highway’.
During ‘Got To Get You Into My Life’, the crowd saw images from the forthcoming Beatles Rock Band game for the very first time.
