The Novocaines draw their ferocious sound from the days of Iggy & The Stooges. This is a band from Perth but they good just as easily be mistaken for a band from Detroit in the early 70s.
That is pretty amazing considering the average age in the band is still under 20.Corey Marriott is the frontman for the band. Jay, his brother is the guitarist. Steve Turnock is on bass and Liam Young plays drums.
The Novocaines want the gig with You Am I on round one of The JD Set and they are campaigning hard at their MySpace site.
“Thanks again to everyone that has been voting so consistently, you are the salt of the earth in our minds, lets make The Novocaines the highest voted band so we can pretty well guarantee our spot on You Am I's national tour in May,” Jay posted this week.
A post earlier read, “the possibility has arisen for us to tour with You Am I next month but we require your help. After much self promotion we have been granted a position on the shortlist for this year's JD Set. We have done all we can do and now we must leave it up to the fans and friends that we so strongly rely on for all we have accomplished so far”.
