The father of the boy Madonna plans to adopt is now supporting the pop diva, claiming that leaving Malawi is in the best interests of his son.
Speaking again to Reuters Television, Yohane Banda responded to Madonna's comments to Oprah Winfrey, when she claimed Banda had been "terrorised by the media." Madonna went on to say, "they have asked him things, repeatedly, and they have put words in his mouth. They have spun a story that is completely false."Banda said on Wednesday, "My message to Madonna is that she should not be discouraged, be strong. As we agreed and we expect that after three to four years the child shall come back for us to see him."
"You (Madonna) should not be shaken or disturbed by this because there are no ill intentions," he said.
Whilst Banda continued to assert that he did not fully understand the legalities concerning the adoption bid, he said the he did not support attempts by human rights groups to block the adoption.
"I'm the father of the child in this case. If they wanted to correct anything they should have called me or the family," Banda said. "It is not for them to fight for me and for the so-called rights of my child."
