Susan Boyle says she is “gobsmacked, absolutely gobsmacked” after her appearance on Britain’s Got Talent last Friday night.
Susan is back home in Scotland and spoke about her experience on STV’s The Five Thirty Show. “Everybody’s wanting my autograph. It is really surreal,” she said.Susan is an unemployed 47-year old who had been caring for her sick mother until her death in 2007. “Basically I wanted to fulfill a wish to my mother,” she explained. “That was to do something with my life. Not only that, I felt I had a bit more to offer”.
Her experience to date has been minimal. “I’ve been in choirs, I’ve been in school productions, karaoke's, you name it, I was on it”.
She said she did not expect the reaction she received. “That was not the kind of reaction I was expecting, let’s be honest. I just got through with it. You just get on with it”.
So what is next for Susan Boyle? She still has the rest of the contest to get through. “I will go through to the bitter end. We’ll see what happens. It will be baby steps,” she says.
Regardless of the outcome of the show, Susan will get her wish of a professional singing career. Sony Music, the company involved in Britain’s Got Talent, is already planning a release.
Sony also released Paul Potts, the winner of the first season of Britain’s Got Talent.
