Lawyers representing Paul McCartney's estranged wife Heather Mills have indicated that their client will sue three British newspapers for their coverage of her increasingly ugly divorce from the Beatles legend
The Daily Mail and the Evening Standard are subject to initial legal proceedings, with tabloid the Sun also named for future litigation. In addition to publishing supposedly leaked court documents alleging McCartney had abused Mills during their marriage, the press has also been accused of stalking and harassing Mills. The statement from lawyers Mishcon de Reya read, "She is pursued everywhere she goes. She is stalked by press photographers who congregate outside her home and chase after her in cars - regardless of her safety or the safety of her daughter."
Her lawyers also denied reports that Mills had been offered a 30 million pound settlement.
