Icy UK new-wave rock sensation Bloc Party announce their follow-up album.
The post-punk act caused a ruckus with the critically acclaimed uber-hip debut 'Silent Alarm' in 2005. They enjoyed critical and commercial success in the UK (selling platinum), but remained a cult phenomenon in the US.Billboard Magazine announced that their next album, titled 'A Weekend In The City', is to be released on February 6, 2007 via Vice Records and Atlantic. They'll warm up by releasing single 'The Prayer' internationally on January 29.
In July, Bloc Party frontman Kele Okereke told Billboard, "This next record is hopefully going to be a lot more intricate and layered. We learnt so much about the power of arrangements. I know it sound cheesy, but I guess it is going to be a more grown up Bloc Party."
The band have already announced a tour of Ireland and the UK for January and February next year, but before that, they'll butter up US audiences by opening for Panic! At The Disco's November/ December tour. Word is they have already been playing two songs from the album during their live shows; 'Waiting For The 7:18' and their response to the London bombings 'Hunting For Witches'.
