Placebo announce details of their sixth album, which they plan on releasing themselves.
‘Battle for the Sun’ will be “optimistic” and “positive” and most importantly, released into stores on and around June 6.The band headed to Toronto with producer Dave Bottril (Tool) and had it mixed by Alan Moulder (NIN, Smashing Pumpkins), two interesting choices for a band trying to move away from childhood angst.
The album has been self-funded (they must’ve been saving their pennies!) and will be released in a squillion different versions, including a 70 quid deluxe version that is currently available on pre-order. If you’re one of the first 500 buyers, your copy will be autographed.
The fancy version also includes a live CD, a DVD a making-of DVD, a vinyl LP and two books.
There will also be five random “golden tickets” which will entitle the winner to a “VIP day” with the band.
