U2 No Line On The Horizon has topped the UK chart.
U2 have stormed to the top of the album charts with the 10th number one album. No Line On The Horizon, the band's 12th studio album, which was released last Monday, went straight into the number one slot of the Official Album Charts yesterday.
The achievement makes the Irish rockers one of the top five album chart acts of all time, claiming joint third along with Madonna and the Rolling Stones.
The Beatles are just ahead, scoring 11 number one UK albums in their career, while the all-time record goes to Elvis Presley, who had 15 number one albums.
But despite U2's success in the album chart, the lead single from the album, Get on Your Boots, slid further down the charts two weeks after it failed to make the top 10.
However, their 2006 singles compilation, U218, continued to climb back up the chart from number 39 to 17.
The band's first chart-topper came in 1983 with War, while their most recent success was with How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb in 2006.
