Amy Winehouse is at number 1 on the UK album charts for her latest release Lioness: Hidden Treasures. It has sold 194,000 copies since its release on December 5th 2011.
The album which contains 12 previously unreleased tracks was compiled by friends and producers Mark Ronson and Salaam Remi.
Initially Mark was reluctant to participate in the project however states "To be honest, it's hard for me to listen to [her posthumous album] from start to finish,' he revealed. 'I said no initially. I didn't know if they necessarily needed me and it was a bit too soon for me. I heard a vocal and thought I wanted to be part of something magical for the last time with Amy."
Long time friends, Mark and Amy collaborated on the album Back to Black together. The 36-year-old British DJ-and-producer was constantly inspired by Amy's talent, claiming that Winehouse was "an encyclopaedia" of music.
Winehouse was found dead in her London apartment at age 27 from alcohol poisoning on the 23rd July 2011.
