Swiftcover.com, a UK insurance company, has come under fire for refusing to insure musicians yet they are using Iggy Pop at the face of their TV commercials.
The Iggy Pop ads started airing in the UK in January and now the Advertising Standards Authority has received complaints from musicians who tried to buy the insurance but were knocked back. The complaints suggest it is inappropriate for a company to use a person in a television commercial from an occupational group not eligible for the service but swiftcover.com say they chose Pop, not because he is a performer but rather as an actor who loves life.
The insurer claims people in the entertainment business are too high a risk of personal injury.
Maybe the general public might like to consider swiftcover.com ineligible for their business because of their ridiculous justification.
