John Frusciante will not attend the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction with the rest of the gang. Unlike the ego driven hoo haa within the G & R camp, Frusciante just didn't feel comfortable going.
In an interview with the present Red Hot Chilli Peppers drummer Chad Smith posted on 411mania.com, Chad reveals why the orginal guitarist for the band will not be attending; "He didn't feel comfortable coming, which we totally respect. We asked him... He said, 'I'm just not really comfortable with that, but good luck and thanks for inviting me.' It was all good. He's the kind of guy, I think, that once he's finished with something he's just on to the next phase of his life. The Chilli Peppers are not really on his radar right now."
Frusciante rejoined the Chilli Peppers in 1998 after abruptly quitting the band in Japan whilst touring Blood Sugar Sex Magik in 1992 just hours before a show. Anthony Kiedis recalls Frusciante claiming that he could not cope with the fame stating in heated arguments 'We're too popular. I don't need to be at this level of success. I would just be proud to be playing this music in clubs like you guys were doing two years ago"
On his return to the band (on Fleas insistance) in 1998 Frusciante bore the wounds and injuries of the preceeding six years of drug use but continued to play and contribute on Californication, By The Way and Stadium Arcadium albums and tours. His second departure came in 2008 during a hiatus for the Red Hot Chilli Peppers that saw individual members pursue other projects.
