The Cramps lead singer Lux Interior has died of an apparent heart attack at the age of 62.
The Cramps formed in 1976. Lux Interior, (born Erick Lee Purkhiser) formed the band in Stow, Ohio with Poison Ivy (Kristina Wallace). The couple were married.The band soon entered the New York punk scene and developed alongside acts like The Ramones, Patti Smith and Television.
The origins of their sound drew from the rockabilly past of acts like Dick Dale and Link Wray.
Over the decades their status grew to legendary punk status to the point where they were even asked to make a cameo once on Beverly Hills 90210.
The last album from The Cramps was ‘How To Make A Monster’, released in 2004.
