Mott The Hoople founders Mick Ralphs and Ian Hunter say the Mott The Hoople reunion is definitely on.
"I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to do this with my old friends, thanks to the loyalty of the Mott fans who have created it," Ralphs said in a statement at the Mott The Hoople website."Why are we doing it? I can't speak for the others, but I'm doing it just to see what it's like. Short of war, death, famine etc. ... it's ON,” Hunter said.
Mott The Hoople will perform at the Hammersmith Apollo in London, the same venue where they recorded their live album in 1973.
They are expecting to see some younger faces in the audience. Movies like Juno have kept the Mott music alive. Juno featured ‘All The Young Dudes”, the song written for them by David Bowie.
The shows will feature the original line-up of Ian Hunter, Mick Ralphs, Verden Allen, Dale Griffin, and Pete "Overend" Watts together again for the first time in 35 years.
"It's a great opportunity to thank the Mott The Hoople fans for keeping the faith for all these years and to play with all me old mates again," Watts said.
The Apollo shows will be on October 2nd and 3rd.
