Neil Young has played his first show of 2009 as headline act for the first Big Day Out of the year in Auckland, New Zealand.
With the power pop sounds of Arctic Monkeys before him and local heroes The Living End prior to that, Young is not letting age come before beauty. The opening song for the show was ‘Love and Only Love’ from his 1990 “grunge” album ‘Ragged Glory’.
At 64 years of age, Neil Percival Young has rocked longer and harder than anyone on the Big Day Out bill and pity them if they try and challenge him on that.
The first Big Day Out was yesterday at Mount Smart Stadium in Auckland. The first Australian Big Day Out show is tomorrow on the Gold Coast, Queensland.
Neil Young’s Big Day Out set is limited to 90-minutes. His first sideshow is Wednesday, Jan 21 at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre. Expect the expanded set to preview songs from the next album ‘Fork In The Road’
