The live performance of the `Astral Weeks`, recorded by Van Morrison from the Hollywood Bowl last month, will be released through EMI.
Morrison had been signed to Universal since the mid 90s and released his various albums through the best suited Universal label such as Lost Highway, Verve or Mercury. The deal with EMI includes Morrison’s new label Listen To The Lion. "I brought these records to EMI because they seem to have people with vision, who have 'ears' and who understand the significance of the complex arrangements and the classic essence of recordings like 'Astral Weeks,'" says Morrison in a statement. "They're committed to maintaining the integrity of the records I make. That is what it's all about to me."
The live version of the classic ‘Astral Weeks’ was recorded to mark the 40th anniversary of the original release of the album.
Morrison rounded up the original band that played on the album to perform every song at the Hollywood Bowl in November.
