Les Kaczmerek, the original bass player for Cold Chisel, has died of liver failure.
Les was there at the start of Chisel when the band formed in Adelaide in 1973. The line-up then was Les, Don Walker(organ), Ian Moss (guitar), Steve Prestwich(drums) and Ted Broniecki (keyboards).A few months later, 17-year old Jimmy Barnes joined the band as lead singer.
After a two-year stint, Les left in 1975 and was replaced by Phil Small.
Chisel released their debut album in 1978.
Les died in Adelaide. He had been on a transplant waiting list for some time.
