It didn’t take maestro Andre Rieu long to whip out a live DVD from his current Australian tour. Live In Australia will be released on December 15.
Rieu and Orchestra filmed the second of their Melbourne shows last month for the DVD.38,000 fans gathered at Telstra Dome for the show featuring the Imperial Ballet of Vienna, Tanzschule Elmayer, Stars on Ice and the Australian Federal Police Pipe & Drum Band.
The stage featured a 700-tonne set custom built for the show and included an ice-skating rink and two fountains.
It cost $6 million and took 220 shipping grates to get it to and around Australia.
Rieu Australianized the show by performing ‘Advance Australia Fair’, ‘Australia Medley’, ‘Waltzing Matilda’ and ‘The Road To Gundagai’.
