Before Iggy And The Stooges work on their new album with Steve Albini, they want to request one or two things.
Or hundreds. On October 4, muckraking website The Smoking Gun got its hands on a recent rider for cult punk rockers Iggy And The Stooges. The often hilarious document is eighteen pages long, written with sarcastic and absurd wit by roadie Jos Grain. The first nine pages specify technical requirements but 80% of what's written ends up as ridiculous ranting. The last nine pages are screeds about lighting, security, media passes, food requirements (Iggy apparently wants to eat endangered species), and finally, an idea for a reality TV show.
The strange document comes hot on the heels of news that godfather of noise rock and legendary producer Steve Albini is about to record a comeback record for The Stooges. In an interview with the Chicago Reader, Albini says that The Stooges are one of his all-time favourite bands. The re-formed line-up with feature original Stooges Iggy, and Ron and Scott Asheton with tourist bassist and Minuteman Mike Watt as well as 'Funhouse' saxophonist Steve McKay.
