Before her long-awaited Australian tour, living legend Dolly Parton will release an all-new album.
In amongst the glitz and glam, it’s easy to forget that Dolly Parton is a hugely successful songwriter, so an album of all-new material is sure to be a treat.
She hasn’t released a completely all-new album since 1998’s Hungry Again, but now she’s ready to deliver Better Day. Although, a couple of songs have seen the light of day before on Broadway and on a collaborative album with Porter Wagoner.
In a press release, Dolly claims she wanted to write an uplifting, positive, inspirational album.
She says, “Times are hard all over. I think people need to feel better and I thought Better Day was a perfect title because it says ‘hope.’ As an artist and songwriter, you try to think about what your audience would like to hear. Things are so glum lately with the economy and all of the recent storms and the doomsday talk. I thought, ‘I don't have the heart to write any sad songs.' So I wrote some uplifting songs with a ray of hope and a bit of promise.”
The first single, ‘Together You & I’, was debuted live on Ellen, and Better Day has already been released in the US, debuting at number nine on the Country Charts.
The 12-song album will be released in Australia on August 26, before her massively-anticipated November tour.
