It’s been a helluva long time coming, but the legendary tribute shows to Lobby Loyde and Pete Wells that occured in Sydney and Melbourne in late 2006 and early 2007 are finally coming out on CD.
The shows were both put on by equally legendary Aussie rock hero Billy Thorpe, who sadly died in February 2007.The performances have been sadly coupled together, with just eleven tracks from the two amazing concerts that will come with a three track DVD.
There has never been a full release of either concert and performances by Master’s Apprentices, Purple Hearts, Wendy Saddington, Chain and more are still going unheard.
Still, this collection does have some fantastic recordings of legendary Aussie bands who, as is proven on this recording, still have it, and the proceeds from the release go to Support Act LTD, which helps with drug and alcohol rehabilitation for musicians.
On a side note, I had the pleasure of seeing all three of these artists on stage while they were still alive and they all rocked harder than a fuckin’* demolition ball. Oz rock would not be what it is today without them.
