Michael Lee, former drummer for Robert Plant and Jimmy Page, has died at the age of 39.
Lee started work with Plant on his 1993 album ‘Fate of Nations’. As a member of Plant’s band, he got to play the drum solo for ‘Whole Lotta Love’ at the end of each set. When Plant regrouped with Jimmy Page as Page and Plant in the mid 90s, Plant brought Lee into that band. He played on ‘Unledded’ and the ‘No Quarter’ album and toured the world playing a predominately Led Zeppelin setlist.
Plant was so impressed with Lee that when he recorded the ‘Walking To Clarksdale’ album with Page, Lee is credited as a co-writer on every song.
Michael Lee has also played wit The Cult, Echo & The Bunnymen and the reformed Thin Lizzy.
A cause of death has not been established.
