For the first time in Victoria, one of the A Day On The Green concerts has had to be cancelled, due to Melbourne`s unseasonable weather.
The show by John Mellencamp and Sheryl Crow was the first local weather casualty for Roundhouse Entertainment and the third out of 150 shows that have been cancelled since A Day On The Green started.A Joe Cocker/Jimmy Barnes concert at Centennial Vineyards, Bowral NSW was cancelled earlier this year. Also a Pete Murray headlined show was cancelled just as he was to take the stage in the Hunter Valley a few years ago after the 3 support acts have played.
That's not a bad record after 8 years of outdoor entertainment.
In a statement, the organisers said, “The venue site had been inspected and despite best efforts, had been deemed unsafe for patrons and staff as a result of extreme weather. This decision was made after consultation with all stakeholders on site including an independent safety officer and an insurance assessor”.
With just one week before summer, Melbourne was plunged into mid-winter temperatures yesterday, with heavy rain and gale force winds.
The show will not be rescheduled because of the artists’ touring commitments.
All ticket holders will receive a full refund at the point of purchase.
