Sheryl Crow paid homage to Crowded House during her Melbourne show last night.
Returning to Australia for the first time in 11 years, Sheryl included the Crowded House hit ‘Mean To Me’ in her set. Later she also said her own hit ‘Every Day Is A Winding Road’ was inspired by Crowded House drummer, her friend, the late Paul Hester. That was a pretty good way to win over the Melbourne audience.
With just under an hour to play with on stage (she was the special guest of John Mellencamp), Sheryl pretty much gave the crowd a wide selection of her entire career.
I didn’t realise what die-hard fans she has. `Team-Sheryl` were down on the floor, dressed in white clothes and cowboy hats and holding up messages like “I am strong enough sheez”. (Mate, I felt for you when she said she was only interested in men over 35 years old. Bummer).
The positive message of Obama did not go unmentioned. ‘A Change Would Do You Good’ and ‘Can’t Cry Anymore’ at the start of the show pretty much summed up in music what she stated between the songs. About how great it was to have Obama in the White House.
