Neil Finn will donate all profits from his next album to aid agency Oxfam.
The album will be a live recording featuring famous friends of Finn. It will feature Jeff Tweddy of John Stirrat from Wilco as well as New Zealand musicians Bic Runga and Don McGlasghan and his son Liam.Seven years ago, Finn released a similar project under the name ‘7 Worlds Collide’.
“Seven years ago I invited a few friends and fellow musicians to do a special series of concerts in New Zealand under the banner 7 Worlds Collide,” Neil Finn said in a statement. “The concerts were an amazing experience for all of us and we are delighted to have found an opportunity to gather again, this time to expand the concept and the line-up too.”
Oxfam is an international development organization working to end poverty and injustice.
“What will make these sessions particularly meaningful is that all the proceeds of this recording will go to support the continuing great work of Oxfam,” says Finn.
“Everyone is really excited about coming together again with a few new faces and extending the magic we created with 7 Worlds Collide the first time round, and with such an amazing group of people, I’m excited about the music we’ll be making”.
The album will be recorded in Auckland in coming months. It will be released in the first half of 2009.
