New York band M-Lab will be hitting the stage of the Mercury Lounge on Monday the 24th to perform material from their next album live for the very first time.
M-Lab features Derek Gregor, co, creator of the upcoming Broadway musical ‘Unlock’d’.M-Lab is the rock band he has with Drew Brody and Mike White. They cite their sound as being between Mozart and U2. The band has broad appeal, with a feel somewhere between the vocal styling of Neil Diamond and the production excellence of Jim Steinman.
“Well, we just finished recording, and, even though the CD won't be out for awhile, we want to celebrate and play some of the new tunes for you,” they say in a statement.
“We're excited to come back to the Mercury Lounge, and tried to keep it on the early side for those of you with day jobs or who are traveling on Tuesday”.
Stay tuned for more on ‘Unlock’d’ as well. ‘Unlock’d’ is the work-in-progress made for Broadway musical that has been performed a few times so far in New York and Chicago. It is based in Alexander Pope’s ‘The Rape of the Lock’ and tells the story of “the most beautiful woman in the land, whose majestic golden locks are guarded by the jealous but powerful fairies”.
So Monday it is, November 24 from 7.30pm.
