Tex Perkins has his Ladyboyz gave a warm Melbourne happy birthday call-out to The Espy Hotel in Melbourne on Thursday as Melbourne’s music industry came out for the dinner.
The Ladyboyz have just released the covers albums ‘No. 1’s and No. 2’s’ featuring schock from the 70s and 80s such as Dr Hook’s ‘A Little Bit More’ and 10CC’s ‘I’m Not In Love’.They played those songs as well as Toto’s ‘Hold The Line’ for the small gathering of party-goers including Ian ‘Molly’ Meldrum, Michael Gudinski and members of the media.
The Espy is the longest continuously running music venue in Australia.
It is celebrating its milestone birthday this month with 300 acts performing over 30 days.
Coming up are the Hoodoo Gurus, Tim Finn, The Drones, The Fauves, Dukes of Windsor, David Bridie and Boom Crash Opera, just to name a few.
Undercover wishes The Espy a happy 130th. Hopefully, the next 130 years will be even bigger.
