Neil Hefti, best known as the composer of the Batman TV theme, has died at the age of 85.
Hefti has a couple of TV hits. His other well-known theme was ‘The Odd Couple’.Neal Hefti was born on October 29, 1922. He started his music career as the trumpet player for Woody Herman.
In the 60s, he started work on movie themes and wrote background music for ‘Sex and the Single Girl’, ‘How To Murder Your Wife’ and ‘Barefoot In The Park’.
He was also listed as arranger and conductor of the Frank Sinatra album ‘Sinatra and Swingin’ Brass’.
Batman is probably his best known work. He received one award for the theme.
The track became a Top 40 hit for The Marketts and later for Hefti.
