Lady Miss Kier, real name Kierin Kirby, has lost a long court battle against game makers Sega after they allegedly used her likeness in a video game.
Sega's character Ulala from the video game Space Channel 5 was allegedly created after she refused to license her image and songs to the game maker.37 year old Kirby claimed that Sega approached her in 2000, wanting to license her image and music to help promote the game in the U.K. and Europe, but Sega's defence was that the game was released in Japan in 1999, before they allegedly even approached her.
The court case has been running since 2003, but a verdict was finally reached this week. Kier was ordered to pay $US600,000 in court expenses to Sega, a far cry from the $750,000 in damages she was suing for.
Lady Miss Kier is still performing with a bizarre show that involves otherworldly dancers and a repetitive and hypnotic backing tape.
