Butch Vig has been tapped as the producer of the next Green Day album.
Vig is the founder of Garbage and producer of Nirvana’s ‘Nevermind’ and Smashing Pumpkins ‘Siamese Dream’.This will be the first Green Day album by name since ‘American Idiot’ but last year they did release an album under the name Foxboro Hot Tubs.
Vig’s last production was The Subways ‘All or Nothing’.
Undercover hears that while the Green Day album is not scheduled until 2009, there may be a single before the end of this year.
