The Knack`s Doug Fieger is still undergoing chemotherapy at the moment to fight his battle with cancer but his condition has been stable for two years.
“It's all related to my original lung cancer,” Doug tells Undercover News. “It metastasized to my brain and sent microscopic cells into my body that have, over time, been collected by my lymph system. These are very pernicious and hard to treat”.The star, who gave the world the classic ‘My Sharona’, is sounding positive and accepting of his situation. “I'm just fighting for my life,” he says. “I've got this cycle of chemotherapy that will take me 'til January and then the docs will scan me again and re-evaluate. If the chemo seems to be working then I will probably have to do another 3 months of this”.
Doug underwent surgery in August 2006 for the removal of two brain tumors. Scans in 2007 showed the cancer was in remission and not long after Doug had the chance to visit Australia and perform on the Countdown concert.
"The bad news is that this chemo is the last one that is available to me unless some clinical trial comes up so if it doesn't work I'm SOL ! Oh well .....”
