A German-based artist has acquired the stolen ashes of Nirvana front man Kurt Cobain and says she plans to smoke them in a joint as part of a five part exhibit.
The Australian born artist, Natascha Stellmach, will smoke the joint at a secret location in Berlin after the other parts of the exhibit, supposed to represent the cycle of life, are complete.She told Art World magazine that the stunt was supposed to release Cobain “into the ether from the media circus”.
I’m pretty sure there hasn’t really been a “media circus” around Cobain for many a year... but sure, whatever.
Cobain’s ashes were supposedly stolen from his widow, Courtney Love’s Los Angeles home. At the time she said “I can't believe anyone would take Kurt's ashes from me. They were all I had left of my husband. Now it feels like I have lost him all over again.”
Now Love claims that the ashes were never stolen.
