Silverchair will play a New Year's Eve show this year in their hometown Newcastle, north of Sydney.
The gig will be a one-off for the band, before they release their new album in the new year."It will be great to get a chance to play to all our friends and family again", said Silverchair drummer Ben Gillies. "Doing this gig will save us all from throwing any New Years Eve parties, we can just invite everyone down to this gig instead! We're also really pleased that Beautiful Girls and Something with Numbers have agreed to be part of it too - it should be fun."
Sessions for the new yet-to-be titled Silverchair album is complete but mixing won't start until just before Christmas.
The band says they will have the album out in the first half on 2007.
