Toni Collette will take a break from acting to release her debut album 'Beautiful Awkward Pictures' on October 7.
The album was recorded with her band The Finish featuring her husband Dave Galafassi on drums, Glenn Richards from Augie March on guitar, David Lane on piano and keyboards and Peter Farley on bass.Because of her acting career and that all of her band members are in other bands, getting everyone together was a chore. "I guess we are all jumping in in our spare time" Toni tells Undercover News. "We were all available to record together which was miraculous in itself".
She also doesn't want to be seen as yet another actor making a record. "(I've been singing) longer than I've been acting actually" she says. "I did a lot of talent quests when I was an early teen. I was weaned on musical theatre. That is how I got into acting itself and the music side of things fell away. It's been a long time coming. It is a relief, it is like a purge to get it out".
Toni Collette and The Finish will perform:
November 9, Sydney, The Basement
November 10, Newtown, Newtown RSL
November 11, Bulli, The Heritage Hotel
November 12, Cronulla, The Brass Monkey
Melbourne dates will be announced soon.
